Martin is the Practice Area Leader of Freehills’ Commercial Litigation group in Melbourne, a position he has held since 2007.
Martin’s practice involves commercial disputes arising in areas including restructuring and insolvency, insurance, and complex business sales and acquisitions.
Experience
Martin has represented clients in various state Supreme Courts and in the Federal and High Courts, in litigation-involving matters such as business acquisitions and insolvency.
Martin takes a practical approach to business disputes, and is skilled in formulating settlement strategies that take account of the settlement needs and commercial direction of his clients.
Martin has advised on significant matters for clients including Caltex, AXA, the ANZ Bank, Ansell Limited, KPMG, Merck Sharpe & Dohme, Toll Holdings Ltd and South Pacific Tyres. He has also advised semi-government bodies such as Airservices Australia.
Martin has also performed work for Berry Street Inc. and the Spastic Society on a pro-bono basis.

Martin obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Melbourne in 1991.
