Kirstie specialises in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and molecular biology. She has a broad experience in the drafting and prosecution of Australian and foreign patent applications and opposition proceedings before the Australian and New Zealand patent offices.
Kirstie works closely with the Freehills litigation group in patent litigation matters and advises on patent validity and infringement issues for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Professional background
Kirstie is a registered Patent Attorney and has a Master of Intellectual Property Law from the University of Melbourne.
Prior to joining Freehills Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, Kirstie was a research fellow at the Centre for Biochemistry at the University of Göttingen, Germany. During her time at the University of Göttingen she was awarded a fellowship from the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation and taught biochemistry and molecular biology at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Kirstie received a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Canterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) in 1991. In 1996 she was awarded a PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the same institution.
