Shaun has had extensive experience in infrastructure projects, PPPs and project/structured financings and across a number of industries and areas. He has acted for sponsors, consortiums, government bodies, financial institutions, investment banks and equity.

Infrastructure/PPP/Project finance experience     

Recent and current transactions Shaun has worked on include:  

  • advising ABN AMRO and Leighton consortium on the acquisition of the Sydney CrossCity Tunnel
  • advising United Goninan/Mitsubishi consortium for the NSW Rolling Stock PPP
  • advising Macquarie Bank/Macquarie Korea Opportunities Fund on the acquisition of power and water assets in Korea
  • advising the Macquarie Bank/John Laing consortium for the Singapore Sports Hub PPP
  • advising the GEAC consortium and Loy Yang Power on the Loy Yang A restructuring and refinancing
  • advising the AGL/Petronas consortium on the PNG Australia Pipeline project
  • advising the lenders in the project financing of the Dampier to Bunbury National Gas Pipeline acquisition
  • advising the AGL/CBA/TEPCO consortium in the acquisition of Loy Yang A power station
  • advising the China Construction Bank in structuring and financing CKI’s interest in the Sydney CrossCity Tunnel
  • advising the consortium for the Berwick Hospital PPP, ultimately unsuccessful
  • advising the sponsor for the Defence HQ PPP, ultimately unsuccessful
  • advising the Macquarie Bank-led consortium for proposed sewerage infrastructure projects throughout Australia
  • advising ANZ and the other lenders in the project financing of Tarong North Power Station, and
  • advising Toronto Dominion and the syndicate of lenders in the Smithfield Cogeneration Power Station project financing, including infrastructure borrowings and restructure.

Structured finance experience 

Transactions Shaun has worked on include:   

  • advising John Fairfax Group in structuring and financing the acquisition of INL newspapers in New Zealand
  • advising Melbourne Transport Enterprises/CGEA Connex in relation to the Hillside Train franchise in Victoria
  • advising Banque National de Paris in the $110 million Boral Australia-wide motor vehicle lease facility, and
  • advising New South Wales Treasury Corporation/Prospect Electricity in relation to the cross border financing of electricity assets and their proposed restructuring.

Shaun has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Tasmania and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Sydney.
