Current practice

David is a partner practicing in the Dispute Resolution, Litigation and Infrastructure practices from Freehills' Melbourne office. David has extensive experience in the active resolution of disputes, including by mediation, arbitration and litigation and alternative resolution processes in the building, construction, mining and engineering industries. He also has substantial experience advising on and drafting tender and contract documents for such projects, including complex contractual schemes and maintenance, consultancy and transfer arrangements.

David provides lecturing in Masters in Construction at Melbourne University and in PPP Contract Management at Melbourne University Private.

  • OneLink Transit Systems Pty Ltd in connection with issues arising out of the public transport corporation ticketing system
  • R Corporation regarding the multi-purpose commercial and residential redevelopment of the St Kilda light rail junction
  • Santos/QCT Resources in connection with the South Blackwater Coal Mine in Queensland
  • State Electricity Commission of Victoria in connection with the major outage failure of generator 2 at Loy Yang B power station in Victoria
  • Ticor Limited regarding mineral sands mining venture in India
  • Uecomm regarding GSM cellular networks and broad band fibre optic telecommunication networks in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth
  • United Energy regarding issues associated with the technological infrastructure of Pulse electricity
  • WALTER Construction Group regarding the globex bulk terminal development in Queensland
  • WALTER Construction Group regarding the Marquise high rise residential development in Melbourne.

Professional background

David holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Jurisprudence with an Accounting Major. He is a regular presenter at IES Management seminars. As well as holding membership of various industry bodies, David is an Associate of the Australian Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia and a member of the Committee of the Building Dispute Practitioners Society.
