Philip's practice includes:

  • preparing and advising on employment agreements
  • performance and termination issues
  • unfair dismissal claims
  • developing and implementing employment policies
  • change management and employment issues in commercial transactions
  • advising on various health and safety issues, including management of injured employees, and
  • advising on equal opportunity and discrimination issues.
Philip assists employers with their day to day human resource issues. He seeks to prevent problems arising through practical, commercial advice.

In the event of disputes, Philip appears in the Courts and Industrial Tribunals to protect and enforce his clients' rights.

Philip has been involved in employee relations planning for major resource projects, regularly conducts major litigation based on industrial torts, has developed and implemented a number of fitness for work programs and conducted major workplace investigations.

Philip spent a number of years conducting general commercial litigation. This background has given him experience resolving a wide range of disputes and advising on a wide range of legal and commercial issues.

Professional background

Philip joined the firm in 1990 after completing a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia. He is admitted as a Solicitor in Queensland and as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
