Thor is a registered patent attorney with a background in physics. His current practice includes preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the fields of telecommunications, physics and computing.Industry experience
Thor has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for telecommunication devices and systems relating to wireless and optical telecommunications networks. Thor also has experience relating to photonics and optoelectronic devices, microelectromechanical systems and fabrication techniques, radio-frequency identification tags, switchable permanent magnet technology, underwater mapping, remote sensing and satellite positioning system technology.Thor's experience in the computing and software areas include technologies such as verification and encryption protocols for wireless communications; performance forecasting software, transaction authentication, online financial services and systems, methods for optimising the selection of service providers; methods of data representation and data access for image processing software, knowledge management software and facial feature detection and recognition systems.
Thor also has experience in prosecuting and drafting applications relating to a range of mechanical technologies including materials handling, food packaging, hand tools and surgical devices.
Thor's practice also includes preparing, filing and prosecuting design applications in Australia and overseas.
Professional background
Thor graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1996 with a Science (Hons) degree majoring in physics. Thor's interest in the application of physics to real world problems led him to concentrate his studies in applied physics, in particular, computer modelling, remote sensing, lasers and optoelectronics.Thor's honours year included research into remote sensing of atmospheric aerosols, and the use of neural networks for automated image analysis of Hubble Space Telescope data. Thor presented his thesis on remote sensing of atmospheric aerosols to the American Geophysical Union at their annual spring conference.
Thor also holds a Masters of Legal Studies with a major in intellectual property, from the University of Technology, Sydney.
