Professional background

Adam received a bachelor in Biotechnology with first class honours from Flinders University of South Australia. The research he performed during his honours year was conducted at GroPep Pty Ltd (now Novozymes GroPep).

Adam completed his PhD (Biochemistry) in the School of Molecular and Biomedical Science at the University of Adelaide. His PhD studies were focused on understanding the molecular binding specificity of the IGF family of hormones and how these proteins contribute to diabetes and cancer.

Prior to joining Freehills, Adam spent two and a half years as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, U.S.A. During this time his research involved studying the role of protein and lipid kinases in cell transformation. In addition he was involved in identifying small molecules as potential lead compound for cancer therapeutics.

Adam has extensive experience in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, cancer genetics, fermentation, protein purification, assay development and small molecule characterisation.   

While in the U.S.A. Adam completed a Certificate in IP Law at the University of California, San Diego.
