Freehills hosts major ASF Evening Seminar on latest APRA securitisation changes
09 May 2007Freehills’ Sydney office hosted a high profile Australian Securitisation Forum (ASF) Evening Seminar on Thursday 3 May, attended by 160 securitisation participants including Melbourne industry peers linked in via videoconference. The event attracted the largest attendance to date at an ASF Evening Seminar.
Designed to keep members updated on current industry issues and themes, the ASF Evening Series combines topical expert discussions with social networking functions. This ASF event gave industry participants an update on APRA revised rules for securitisation by banks and other ADIs. It also covered the ASF’s recent response to APRA on the proposed new APS120 framework.
Freehills’ Banking & Finance partner and head of securitisation, Tessa Hoser, opened the event with fellow Banking & Finance partner Lachlan Roots moderating the Q&A panel discussion. The Melbourne event was hosted by Banking & Finance partner, Andrew Booth and senior associate, Vinh Huynh.
The panel discussion covered such issues as the commencement and timing for compliance required by the new APS120, transitional arrangements, self-assessment compliance and drafting matters of concern. The panel was made up of key industry figures; Kevin Lee of Macquarie Bank, Ali Gray of ANZ, Ben McCarthy of Fitch Ratings and Brian Salter of Clayton Utz. The 160 guests comprised industry participants from all the major banks, investment banks, rating agencies, law firms, mortgage insurers, trustee companies and accountants.
As the peak industry body representing the securitisation market, the ASF promotes the development of securitisation in Australia. The industry body represents banks, mortgage originators, dealers, issuers, investors, insurers, trustees and law and accounting firms. The ASF Evening Series aims to bring ASF members together regularly in Sydney and Melbourne throughout the year to capitalise on the knowledge and networking value of the ASF.
