Kristin is a partner in the Intellectual Property group and has worked with Freehills since 1996.

Kristin specialises in the commercialisation of intellectual property, including management, acquisition and licensing of IP.

Industry experience

Kristin’s experience includes drafting, negotiating and advising on:

  • the development, assignment and licensing of intellectual property
  • IP aspects of corporate acquisitions, floats, joint ventures and alliances, including advice on transferring IP, cross-licensing agreements and brand splitting agreements
  • IP related agreements including co-branding, advertising, marketing and sponsorship
  • media rights agreements, publishing agreements, content supply agreements, production and distribution agreements
  • research agreements, service agreements, project agreements, evaluation agreements
  • regulatory advice
  • confidential information agreements and know-how transfer agreements
  • copyright and moral rights advice
  • brand advice including issues such as licensing structures and co-ownership
  • IP security and financing, including film and TV financing, brand financing and financing other IP assets, and
  • franchise agreements.

Kristin’s practice covers a range of industries including food and beverage, media, biotechnology/pharmaceutical, publishing, advertising, technology, financial institutions, sport and projects and construction.

Professional background

Kristin has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Laws (Intellectual Property) with Distinction from the London School of Economics.

Kristin is a vice president of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), the Copyright Society of Australia and the NSW Computers and the Law Society.
