On 31 March 2008, the Land and Environment Court concluded that David Hogan, General Manager of Riverside Earthmoving Pty Ltd, was personally responsible for Riverside’s unlawful disposal of waste. While the case considered company director and manager environmental liabilities under New South Wales legislation, the principles it considered are equally applicable to most Australian states and territories.

Mandatory emissions reporting not far off
On 15 August 2007, the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Bill 2007 (Cth) (Bill) was introduced into Parliament and was read a second time.
